The board of directors of Anglogold Ashanti has announced that they “inform shareholders of the passing of non-executive director, Ms Nelisiwe (Neli) Magubane, on October 30, 2022” with “great grief.”
Ms. Magubane was a member of the Audit and Risk and Social, Ethics and Sustainability Committees before she was named to the Board of Directors on January 1, 2020.
She provided “diligence and integrity” in her service to AngloGold Ashanti and its shareholders, the miner said in a statement. She was also a “energetic participant in debates that helped shape the Company’s strategy.”
According to Maria Ramos, chair of AngloGold Ashanti, “Neli brings to us a lot of knowledge and a singular viewpoint given her rich history as an engineer in the energy sector, a regulator, and businesswoman.”
“I, her fellow directors, and the Company as a whole will miss her; she was a valued member of the Board. I extend my sincere condolences to Neli’s daughter and other family members on behalf of the Board during this trying time.
According to the statement, shareholders will be notified as soon as possible of any consequential changes to the Board and its Committees.
