Under the direction of the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection, the Policy, Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation Directorate (PPMED) met with a number of important stakeholders to confirm the updated National Gender Policy and the Early Childhood Care & Development (ECCD) Policy.
The conference was held with the aim of impartially evaluating the updated policies, proposing modifications to satisfy the desired demands and specifications, and guaranteeing Cabinet approval.
Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, Minister for Gender, Children, and Social Protection (MoGCSP), said in her remarks that the decision to review these policies was motivated by the need to improve the quality, accessibility, and coordination of early childhood services, which are essential to social justice and human development, as well as persistent disparities in gender equality.

The validation meeting is an important step toward attaining gender equality and child development in the country, the Sector Minister underlined.
She added that getting Cabinet approval for these two crucial national initiatives is a crucial first step.
The review will also address new concerns in gender mainstreaming, women’s empowerment, and child development, according to Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, who also emphasized that it will better match with the government’s resetting agenda.
Dr. Afisah Zakariah, the Chief Director of MoGCSP, thanked everyone who attended and actively participated in the validation process.
She gave them her word that the ministry will incorporate their insightful comments into the final policy drafts before submitting them to Cabinet.
Gender equality and early childhood development were the main topics of the meeting, which brought together Development Partners, Civil Society Organizations, and other Implementing Stakeholders.
An entrenched national commitment to fairness, inclusiveness, and social transformation is embodied in the National Gender Policy and the Early Childhood Care & Development Policy.
