The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has received GH¢12.65 million from the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), which is half of the money made from the sale of 17 gold bars that were taken from illegal gold dealers in 2025.

The CEO of GoldBod, Sammy Gyamfi, Esq., explained the prize distribution, saying that 10% of the revenues are given to the informant whose reliable intelligence made the operation successful.

The GoldBod Board of Directors authorised an extra 20% for the NACOC officers who put their lives in danger during the operation in appreciation of the officers’ bravery and sacrifice; the remaining 20% was given to NACOC as an organization for the use of its staff and resources.

After accepting the cheque, Major General Maxwell Obuba Mantey, Director-General of NACOC, praised GoldBod for keeping its word and reiterated the Commission’s determination to keep collaborating closely with GoldBod to stop illicit gold transactions.

This presentation demonstrates GoldBod’s steadfast dedication to rewarding reliable intelligence, enhancing cooperation with state security services, and safeguarding Ghana’s gold resources through efficient enforcement.

For the benefit of current and future generations, we are working together to protect Ghana’s gold.
