The trial of former National Food and Buffer Stock Company (NAFCo) Chief Executive Officer, Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba, and his wife, Faiza Seidu Wuni, has been adjourned to October 20, 2026.
The adjournment was granted to allow the two accused persons to access information stored on mobile phones and laptops recently returned to them by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
The case was scheduled to begin on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, but Justice Francis Achibonga postponed the proceedings after lawyers for the accused requested additional time to examine information contained on the electronic devices.
Lawyers Request Access to Electronic Evidence
Counsel for Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba and Faiza Seidu Wuni told the court that information stored on the mobile phones and laptops was important to their defence.
The lawyers argued that the accused persons needed adequate access to the electronic evidence to properly prepare their responses to the charges brought against them.
The court subsequently granted the request and rescheduled the trial for October 20, 2026.
EOCO Releases Seized Money and Devices
The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) on Monday, October 5, released monies and electronic devices that had previously been seized from the couple as part of investigations into alleged financial wrongdoing.
The items released included mobile phones and laptops, which the accused persons maintain contain information relevant to their defence.
The seizure of the items formed part of an investigation into allegations that the former NAFCo CEO and his wife caused an estimated GH¢62.6 million financial loss to the state.
