The National Petroleum Authority (NPA) has assured consumers that there is enough supply to fulfil demand nationwide and has rejected LPG shortage claims that have been making the rounds in several media outlets.

The Authority cautioned the public in a news release on Friday, February 20, 2026, to ignore reports indicating an impending Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) scarcity.

The statement comes after statements made by Dr Riverson Oppong, the CEO of the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies, who allegedly counselled the public to fill their petrol cylinders ahead of supply shortages.

In order to avoid needless market worry, the National Petroleum Authority said it had taken note of news outlets that were publishing the opinion and worked to provide clarification.

“The NPA wishes to assure the general public that there is enough LPG in stock to meet demand.”

According to the Authority, Ghana’s current LPG stocks cover more than a month’s worth of usage, offering a comfortable buffer against any sudden interruptions in supply.
