Police in the Northern Region have successfully rescued a kidnapping victim following a concerted intelligence-led operation in Wapuli, Yendi Division.
The incident was initially reported to the Tamale Regional Police Intelligence Directorate (RPID) on December 2, 2025, about 9:30 a.m., when the suspects allegedly sought a GHS100,000 ransom from the victim’s family.
When the Northern Regional Police Commander, DCOP Wisdom Lavoe, received the tip, he dispatched a five-member intelligence team to locate the culprits.
Their efforts resulted in the victim’s rescue on December 5.
Police said that on December 6, just after midnight, the suspects and cops got into a gunfight.
They fled during the gunfight, leaving a Samsung cell phone and a motorcycle with the registration number M 25 NR behind.
Three men, Haruna Seidu, Amidu Bandi, and Osman Bandi, were taken into custody after the team located the suspects in Bokpaba later that morning at around eight in the morning.
GHS70,000, which was thought to be a component of the ransom, and two motorcycles were also recovered.
One suspect is still at large, according to the police, and efforts are being made to capture him.
