The Ghana Police Service has confirmed that Harold Norman, the husband of Ghanaian fashion icon Rosemond Akua Adobea, popularly known as Nana Akua Addo, will be arraigned in court immediately after he is discharged from hospital.
The Police assurance follows the circulation of videos and photographs on social media allegedly involving Nana Akua Addo and her child. Some of the footage appears to show the fashion icon with visible injuries reportedly linked to an alleged physical altercation.
Separate footage circulating online also purportedly shows her child being subjected to physical violence.
Police Investigate Domestic Violence Allegations
In a statement issued on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, the Police said the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) received a petition from Nana Akua Addo on August 20.
According to the Police, the petition alleged that her husband had subjected her to physical, emotional and economic abuse.
The Ghana Police Service further disclosed that preliminary investigations established that the couple had previously come to the attention of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) at the Lakeside and Ministries Police Stations in July 2026.
Following the petition, Harold Norman was arrested at his residence on August 27 to assist the Police with investigations.
He was subsequently cautioned and, on August 29, granted Police enquiry bail with two sureties while investigations continued.
Husband’s Court Appearance Delayed
The Police said Harold Norman was scheduled to appear before the court on Wednesday, October 7, but his lawyer informed investigators that he had been admitted to hospital and was therefore unable to attend the proceedings.
The Police said DOVVSU investigators have since visited the hospital to verify his admission and are monitoring the situation.
“Investigators from DOVVSU have visited the said hospital to verify the claim and are monitoring the situation to ensure he is arraigned immediately upon discharge from the hospital,” the Police stated.
Social Welfare Support for Nana Akua Addo and Child
The CID and the Ministry responsible for Gender and Social Protection are also working to ensure that Nana Akua Addo and her child receive the necessary social welfare support.
The development has renewed attention on domestic violence and child protection in Ghana, with the Police indicating that investigations and the legal process remain ongoing.
The Ghana Police Service has assured the public that the accused will be brought before the court once he is medically cleared and discharged from the hospital.
