President John Dramani Mahama conducted bilateral meetings with President Lee Jae Myung of the Republic of Korea today, reaffirming Ghana and Korea’s strong and historic connection.

The conference concluded with the signing of three Memoranda of Understanding on marine security, climate change cooperation, and digital technology, a significant step toward expanding partnership between the two nations.

President Mahama emphasised Ghana and Korea’s common history, democratic principles, and mutual dedication to human rights, all of which help to develop relations.

He emphasised that these shared ideals have allowed both countries to collaborate closely in international institutions such as the United Nations, where Ghana and Korea frequently have similar positions on global issues.

The President also emphasised growing agricultural and agribusiness collaboration, especially through projects backed by the Korea International collaboration Agency that are intended to increase rice output and improve Ghana’s food security.

Ghana is positioned as a vital hub for production and exports to the larger African market thanks to the African Continental Free Trade Area, whose Secretariat is based in Accra. He also emphasised prospects for better economic engagement through this organization.

President Mahama expressed hope that a mutually beneficial collaboration for sustainable progress and shared prosperity will continue to be fuelled by Korea’s technical innovation and Ghana’s natural and people resources.
