The United States Embassy in Ghana has stated that more than 2,000 non-immigrant visa appointment slots are available for prospective travellers during the next two weeks.

In a public announcement, the Embassy stated that the new appointments are just for B1/B2 visa applicants.

According to the mission, the extra slots are designed for people planning business travels, visiting family members, general tourism, or attending the next FIFA World Cup.

The Embassy advised applicants with visa appointments scheduled for later this year to reschedule to take advantage of the newly released earlier dates.

“We have more than 2,000 visa appointment slots available in the next two weeks for B1/B2 travellers, whether you’re planning a business trip, visiting family, general tourism, or wanting to watch the World Cup,” the announcement said.

B2 visas cover travel for tourist, medical visits, and family visits, whereas B1 visas are usually granted for business-related travel. One of the non-immigrant visa types that Ghanaian visitors to the US most frequently apply for is the combined B1/B2 visa.

For comprehensive instructions on scheduling or changing appointments, the Embassy recommended that applicants visit its official visa information portal.
