H.E John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana, officially launched the SheaPark Resource Hub at Wa Naa’s Palace on Saturday, January 31, 2026, signalling a significant step toward economic regeneration in the Upper West Region.
The flagship intervention aims to revive the region’s economy through industrialisation and value addition in the shea sector, establishing the Upper West as a significant player in Ghana’s agro-industrial transformation strategy.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, The Rt Hon Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, the initiative’s proponent, described the occasion as a “royal honour and blessing,” and expressed profound gratitude to the organisers for inviting him to be a part of what he described as a historic and potentially impactful intervention.

He affirms that the SheaPark Resource Hub is an essential growth route for Ghana overall as well as the Upper West Region. He pointed out that the launch was an important turning point in the efforts to revitalise the local economy through inclusive, sustainable, and community-driven development.
His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana; His Royal Highness Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV, Paramount Chief of Wa; the Member of Parliament for Wa Central; staff members from the presidential and parliamentary branches; regional ministers; Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs); and a number of other notable guests graced the occasion.
The speaker clarified how the SheaPark Resource Hub fits in well with the government’s main initiatives, especially the Big Push, the 24-Hour Economy, and the Accelerated Export Development strategy.
According to him, the program is motivated by the President’s goal of creating a self-sufficient, export-oriented, and industrially competitive Ghanaian economy with integrated value chains and a workforce that can compete on a global scale.
