The settlement of arrears owed to caterers for the second term of the 2024–2025 academic year has been announced by the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP).
In a Facebook post on Monday, August 11, 2025, Hajia Fati Forgor, the National Coordinator of the government flagship program, confirmed the payment. She stated that all caterers should receive GH¢2.00 before tax for the Second Term, which covers 68 cooking days. This amount is also determined by the number of days that caterers were able to feed beneficiary students during the term.
She claims that this payment is the last payout for all former caterers who were recently fired, with the exception of those whose problems are still being investigated.
The GSFP National Coordinator also praised the government for raising the feeding grants from GHC 1.50 to GHC 2.00, as indicated by the former Akufo-Addo administration.
”The GSFP Secretariat expresses its sincere appreciation to the Government for the upward adjustment of feeding grants from GHC 1.50 to GHC 2.00 and the timely release of funds to honor its financial commitments,” she stated.
According to Hajia Fati, this move demonstrates the government’s commitment to the program’s sustainability and the welfare of caterers.
“We are also grateful to our donor partners for their continuous support and collaboration in sustaining the Programme” she added.
The Ghana School Feeding Programme, on the other hand, is a project of the comprehensive Africa Agricultural Development Programme (CAADP) Pillar 3, which aims to improve food security and lessen hunger in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals (MDGs) on hunger, poverty, and malnutrition set forth by the United Nations (UN).
As a result, schoolchildren receive one hot, wholesome meal every day, which promotes consistent attendance at school and helps reduce food insecurity among low-income families.
