Prince Aboagye, a 39-year-old lottery agent and National Democratic Congress (NDC) branch organiser for Agona West, has been in court for allegedly making derogatory and untrue remarks about former Vice-President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on TikTok.
Aboagye is accused of publishing false information and engaging in provocative behaviour that contributes to a breach of the peace.
After entering a not guilty plea, he was given GH¢200,000 in bail with three sureties, one of which had to be supported by landed property.
The case will now take place on August 19, 2026.
Leading the prosecution, Assistant Superintendent of Police Seth Frimpong informed the judge that the Ghana Police Service was the complainant.
According to the prosecution, the Police Service was alerted in July 2026 to a TikTok video that was posted on the account @atutulagh, which was purportedly run by Aboagye. In the video, he made derogatory and fraudulent remarks about Dr. Bawumia.
According to the prosecution, the publication was meant to incite a disturbance of the peace.
Aboagye, also known as Atutulagh, was taken into custody on July 19, 2026, the court was informed.
He acknowledged making the video and posting it to his TikTok account in his warning statement. Aboagye, however, said that the accusations made in the video were untrue.
