The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, received a courtesy call from a group of former Ghanaian football legends on Tuesday to thank him for his assistance during the recent Democracy Cup festivities.
The group, led by former Hearts of Oak captain Amankwa Mireku, expressed gratitude to the Speaker for his ongoing support of programs celebrating Ghana’s football history.
Speaker Bagbin emphasised football’s increasing economic importance, pointing out that it is now more than just a form of amusement and a thriving industry.
He urged the delegation to continue promoting the Democracy Cup and demanded more opportunities for retiring players.
