A young girl has passed away in my area, and the story behind her death is painful beyond words.
She became pregnant, and instead of receiving care and protection, she was rejected by her own father – a respected church elder who feared disgrace and ridicule more than the life of his child.
Elderly members of the community knelt and begged on her behalf, but his heart remained closed.
She was sent away and found shelter at her grandmother’s place, carrying not just a pregnancy, but deep rejection and shame.
A few days ago, she gave birth.
Sadly, she never lived to see her child grow.
Now, the father who turned his back on her has been seen crying uncontrollably.
Today, he hired an ambulance to bring home the body of the daughter he once chased away.
Too late for tears. Too late for regret.
Such a painful shame.
