A cash reward of $1,500 and £400 has been promised by Greater Accra Regional Minister Hon. Linda Ocloo, the Mayor of Accra, and a delegation of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in Greater Accra for each goal scored by Accra Hearts of Oak players in Sunday’s highly anticipated 2025 President’s Cup matchup against rivals Asante Kotoko.

In addition to promising to raise morale during a visit to the team’s training camp on Friday, the Regional Minister and the MCEs gave the team GH₵20,000 in cash to assist and encourage them to win the game on Sunday.

She gave Ghanaians the assurance that all of the security resources in the area will be used to guarantee a well-planned and peaceful game.

‘‘I want to assure Ghanaians that, security-wise, we are fully prepared. The entire security apparatus will be deployed on Sunday to make sure that everything is in order and that fans can enjoy the match safely,’’ she said.

She assured the squad that they were trusted to make the area proud and that they were believed in.

Hon. Michael Kpakpo Allotey, the mayor of Accra, called the game “dear to their hearts” and urged the players to take advantage of the chance to create history. He also said he would not eat before the game and intended to “wear the number 10 jersey” as a show of support.

The commitments were reaffirmed by the participation of the municipal chief executives of the Ga South, Weija Gbawe, Korle Klottey, and Asawase North Assemblies, respectively.

The Hearts of Oak’s head coach, Mas Ud “Didi” Dramani, responded to the gesture by thanking everyone and stating that he had not anticipated such a strong response.

“This support is unbelievable… It shows that this game really matters to the people of Accra,” he said.

Speaking on behalf of the team, Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare thanked the dignitaries for their support and pledged to keep it up.
