A National Planning Committee has been established by Hon. Sampson Ahi, Deputy Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, to lead Ghana’s preparation and participation in the Specialised World Expo 2027, which will be held in Belgrade, Serbia.

The inaugural event, which took place on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, is the first step in Ghana’s plan to showcase its cultural legacy, innovation, and inventiveness on a worldwide scale.

The event will take place in May 2027, and the Inter-Ministerial Committee will be in charge of organising, coordinating, and carrying out all preparatory operations.

In his introductory remarks, Hon. Ahi asked the committee members to ensure Ghana’s successful involvement by cooperating and applying their varied areas of competence.

He underlined that the nation should use its Expo participation as a platform to increase trade, draw in investment, and advance tourism.

“Ghana’s participation in Expo 2027 must reflect the nation’s creativity, resilience, and capacity for innovation. I encourage the committee to ensure our showcase attracts investment and tells the world the story of a progressive and dynamic Ghana,” he said.

Ghana’s pavilion, “The Ghana Pulse: Rhythm of Progress,” will showcase how music, sports, storytelling, and innovation support inclusive progress, national identity, and unity under the national theme “Playful Ghana: Creativity, Connection, and Cultural Power.”

“Play for Humanity – Sport and Music for All,” the Expo’s overall theme, is in line with Ghana’s dedication to leveraging creativity and culture as instruments for youth empowerment and sustainable development.

Interactive displays at the pavilion will include demonstrations of native instruments like the kora and fontomfrom, live performances of Ghanaian drumming and dance, and traditional games like Ampe and Pilolo.

Additionally, with programs like the Business Program and Education Program, it will highlight creative entrepreneurship in the fields of music-tech, agritech, and fashion.

Ghana’s involvement is to establish the nation as an innovative and creative society that uses culture and innovation to propel its development.

  1. Foster international partnerships in education, trade, tourism, and technology.
  2. Inspire youth involvement in nation-building through creativity and entrepreneurship.
  3. Contribute to the Expo’s legacy by demonstrating how play can drive unity and sustainable development.

Ghana’s successful participation in Expo 2027 Belgrade builds on its standing as a thriving centre for innovation, culture, and creativity. Other successful international expositions include Expo 2020 Dubai and Expo 2025 Osaka.
