The Borteyman Sports Complex, the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, and the Accra Sports Stadium are the three sports stadiums in the Greater Accra Region that the Select Committee on Youth and Sports is currently examining.
The Committee started its visit at the Borteyman Sports Complex under the direction of its Chairman, Hon. Henry Ernest Norgbey.
The lack of energy because of outstanding arrears, little activity because there aren’t many athletic events, inadequate administration and upkeep, and problems with the subterranean drainage system beneath the pitch are some of the major difficulties that have been highlighted.
Members were given an overview of the University of Ghana Sports Stadium’s functioning by its administration. Inadequate maintenance tools, stakeholder meddling, the high expense of repairing broken equipment, and infrastructure flaws were among the difficulties mentioned.

The Committee wrapped off their exercise in the Accra Sports Stadium, which is now undergoing restoration.
Major issues raised included broken water systems, floodlights, scoreboards and inadequate lavatory facilities.
The Committee commended the University of Ghana and the Accra Sports Stadium Management for their efforts to maintain their respective Stadia.
The Chairman pledged that the Committee would work with the Ministry of Sports to address the issues raised at the various stadia.
