Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, the Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), has said that the Physical and Electronic Devices Act will be put into effect in 2026 as part of larger changes to automate the nation’s Value Added Tax (VAT) system.

According to him, the implementation of fiscal monitoring devices at retail establishments across the country would be made possible by the Act’s enforcement, giving the Authority the ability to monitor sales transactions in real time and improve VAT administration.

This was disclosed by Mr. Sarpong during the last session of the Domestic Tax Revenue Division’s (DTRD) three-day management retreat, which was held in Sunyani.

The subject for the retreat was: “Transforming for growth and impact: Focusing VAT compliance and performance.”
