President John Dramani Mahama will deliver his second State of the Nation Address (SONA) before Parliament on Friday, February 27, 2026, in accordance with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution.

Mr Mahama Ayariga, Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business, declared this during Friday’s parliamentary session, when giving the Business Statement to the House.

He stated that Members of Parliament should be seated by 9:15 a.m., since the President will be formally welcomed into the chamber at 10:00 a.m.

As required by the Constitution, the address gives the President the chance to review the nation’s progress, describe the government’s policy direction, and highlight the main issues facing the nation.

Members of Parliament, government representatives, diplomatic corps members, and other invited guests are anticipated to attend the meeting, which will be presided over by Speaker of the House of Representatives Mr. Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin.

One of the most important occasions on Ghana’s political calendar is still the State of the Nation Address, which establishes the tone for national conversation and directs the year’s legislative agenda.
