Gas transportation services throughout Ghana, Togo, and Benin have resumed following the safe and successful completion of necessary pipeline maintenance tasks, according to the West African Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo).
The electricity supply in Ghana and other countries that depend on the pipeline should stabilize as a result.
The four-week-long comprehensive maintenance effort involved a number of crucial duties at several locations in Ghana, Togo, Benin, and Nigeria, including subsea valve replacements, offshore pipeline cleaning, and inspection.
WAPCo claims that pipeline laterals into Tema, Ghana; Lomé, Togo; and Cotonou, Benin, were temporarily closed as part of the maintenance.
According to WAPCo, the project was finished ahead of schedule and with exceptional efficiency and safety, despite the difficulties and complexities involved in maintaining such an important infrastructure system.
A WAPCo representative stated, “We are pleased to announce the safe and successful completion of this critical maintenance work.”
Michelle Burkett, WAPCo’s Managing Director, commended the crew for their exceptional work during the maintenance.
“I want to congratulate every member of our team for their dedication and professionalism. This was a complex project, and your hard work, even in the face of challenges, made it a success. While some countries experienced temporary disruptions due to the shutdown of the laterals, our teams worked tirelessly to ensure that maintenance was carried out swiftly and safely. The results speak for themselves, and I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve kachieved” she stated.
“WAPCo expresses its sincere gratitude to the governments of Benin, Ghana, Nigeria, and Togo for their continued support. We also appreciate the efforts of the maritime and regulatory authorities in these countries, along with our customers, shippers, gas off-takers, host communities, shareholders, and all other stakeholders, for their valuable collaboration and contributions to the success of the project.” she added.
In West Africa, the pipeline system that carries natural gas from Nigeria to Ghana, Togo, and Benin is essential for supplying electricity to homes, businesses, and infrastructure.
Throughout the maintenance procedure, WAPCo’s dedication to providing top-notch service and upholding the strictest safety regulations was a primary priority.
Gas transportation services have resumed following the project’s successful completion, and WAPCo is committed to maintaining a steady supply of natural gas, thereby reinforcing its role in promoting regional energy security.
Reiterating its dedication to provide the area with safe and effective energy solutions, the company also thanked its stakeholders and clients for their cooperation and understanding during the maintenance period.
