Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has departed for a six-day trip to India.

The vice chairman of the NDC, Abanga Yakubu Alhassan, will take over in his absence, according to the party. Comrade Alhassan was Mr. Nketia’s longtime faithful subordinate and was well-known for his unwavering dedication to the party’s beliefs.

On September 13, 2023, Kakra Essamuah, the NDC’s director of communications, issued a statement announcing this change in leadership.

Comrade Abanga Yakubu Alhassan will serve as acting chairman while Mr. Nketia is away, according to the statement.
