30th GJA Media Awards to Celebrate Journalism and Media Freedom
The 2026 GJA Media Awards represent an important milestone in the history of the Ghana Journalists Association and its efforts to promote professional journalism in the country.
Over the years, the awards scheme has served as a major platform for recognising outstanding media practitioners, encouraging investigative journalism, rewarding creativity and promoting ethical reporting.
This year’s theme also places particular emphasis on the need to protect media freedom while addressing the growing challenge of hate speech and misinformation in the digital age.
The Association believes that recognising exceptional journalistic work will inspire both established media professionals and emerging journalists to uphold high standards of accuracy, fairness, accountability and professionalism.
As Ghana continues to strengthen its democratic governance, the media remains an important institution for promoting transparency, holding public officials accountable and informing citizens about national developments.
The 30th edition is therefore expected to bring together the media fraternity, political leadership, corporate Ghana and other stakeholders to celebrate the achievements of journalists and reaffirm the importance of a free, responsible and independent media.
The Ghana Journalists Association has invited its members, corporate partners and other stakeholders to participate in the landmark celebration, which promises an evening of recognition, entertainment, networking and appreciation of the media’s contribution to Ghana’s development.
