President John Dramani Mahama has announced plans to set up Farmer Service Centres in 50 agricultural districts to boost output and provide farmers with new equipment.
Over 4,000 pieces of agricultural equipment, such as tractors, trailers, small tractors, and a variety of attachments and tools to support different farming operations, will be installed in each center.
Additionally, the facilities will have heavy-duty machinery like harrows, ploughs, boom sprayers, precision seed drills, fertiliser spreaders, and combine harvesters with specialist headers for soy and maize.
The effort aims to increase agricultural output nationwide, lessen labour limitations, and improve access to mechanised farming services.
At the Afram Plains, President Mahama recently laid the groundwork for the project’s start. Once finished, the centers are anticipated to drastically alter farming practices.
