A new Global InfoAnalytics poll has revealed that 72% of Ghanaians approve of President John Dramani Mahama’s performance in office, indicating strong public support for his current administration.
Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwah, disclosed the findings during an interview with Bernard Avle on Channel One TV’s The Point of View on Wednesday, August 12, 2026.
According to the latest Ghana presidential approval rating, 21% of respondents said they disapproved of President Mahama’s performance, while 7% had no opinion.
Mussa Dankwah explained that the approval rating reflects respondents’ assessment of President Mahama’s personal performance rather than the broader performance of his government.
Mahama Records Strong Regional Approval
The survey showed significant regional differences in President Mahama’s approval ratings.
The Upper West Region recorded the highest approval rating, with 92% of respondents expressing satisfaction with the President’s performance. The Volta Region followed with 88%, while the Northern Region recorded 72% and the Eastern Region 71%.
President Mahama’s lowest approval ratings were recorded in the Ashanti Region, at 56%, and the North East Region, at 59%.
Global InfoAnalytics Poll Details
The latest survey was based on 7,700 completed interviews conducted between July 15 and 24, 2026. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 1.5 percentage points.
Global InfoAnalytics says the survey will serve as the baseline for a tracking exercise that will be conducted periodically ahead of the 2028 Ghana general elections.
Ghanaians Assess Country’s Direction
The poll also examined how citizens perceive the overall direction of Ghana.
About 60% of respondents said the country was heading in the right direction, while 28% believed Ghana was moving in the wrong direction.
On living standards, 53% of respondents said their standard of living had improved compared with the previous year. Meanwhile, 19% said their living conditions had worsened.
The findings provide fresh insight into public opinion in Ghana, President Mahama’s approval rating, economic conditions and voter sentiment as the country moves closer to the 2028 elections.
