The Ghana Police Service, working with the National Signals Bureau (NSB), has arrested two religious figures over separate videos containing alleged inciteful and offensive remarks about Prophet Mohammed.
One of the suspects, 35-year-old Imam Masud Abdullah, was arrested after allegedly making statements advocating violence against individuals who speak disrespectfully about the Prophet.
According to the Police, the remarks were made during a sermon at a mosque in Ntensere in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region.
In a separate case, the Police Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team arrested Daniel Junior Yaw Adjei, popularly known as Apostle Daniel JY Adjei. He is accused of making derogatory and offensive comments about Prophet Mohammed in a video circulated online.
The Ghana Police Service said investigations into both cases are ongoing and that the suspects will be subjected to due process under Ghanaian law.
The Police have also urged religious leaders, preachers, community leaders and social media users to exercise caution and responsibility when making public statements, particularly on sensitive religious issues.
The Service stressed that freedom of religion and freedom of expression should not be used as a basis for promoting violence or encouraging people to harm others.
The Police further warned that statements capable of inciting violence constitute criminal offences and assured the public that individuals who engage in such conduct would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

The arrests highlight growing concerns over incitement, religious tolerance and responsible social media use in Ghana. Authorities are urging the public to avoid inflammatory statements that could threaten peace and public safety.
The Ghana Police Service said it remains committed to protecting public safety, religious freedom and peaceful coexistence while enforcing the laws of the country.
