Ghana’s government has denounced what it calls an “unprovoked Israeli attack” on the sovereign State of Qatar that has caused property damage, wounds, and fatalities.
The government voiced “deep concern” over the incident in a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and shared by Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the sector minister. The statement described the airstrikes as “a clear violation of international law and an affront to the sovereignty of the State of Qatar.”
The statement claims that the incident seriously jeopardizes current peace initiatives between Israel and Palestine.
Ghana’s government and citizens expressed “solidarity with the Emir of Qatar, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and the people of Qatar in these difficult times” through President John Dramani Mahama.
The government stressed that the event “should not be allowed to derail Qatar’s efforts in negotiating a peaceful diplomatic resolution” and praised Qatar for its “tireless and impressive commitment towards resolving the conflict between Israel and Palestine.”
Ghana reiterated its pledge to back all efforts to maintain stability, security, and peace in the Middle East.
