As the by-elections draw near, more than 15 road construction machines have been placed in various localities throughout the Assin North Constituency.

The machines, which allegedly arrived in the constituency immediately after the court declared James Gyakye Quayson’s election as the region’s Member of Parliament invalid, are hard at work building pitiful roads in the localities.

In an interview with Yaw Boagyan of the EIB Network Central Regional Correspondent, some inhabitants of the Assin North Constituency criticized the government because they felt the action was designed to sway their votes in the next by-election in favor of the ruling party.

They assert that they have already decided who they will support at the polls and that the government should not wait until after the election to build their poor roads.

They claim that despite several letters and protests urging the government to build their poor roads, nothing has happened until the by-election is about to take place.

The Assin North by-election will take place on June 27, 2023, according to the Electoral Commission.
