The Ghana Air Force’s fleet should be modernised, according to the team that looked into the helicopter crash.

The inquiry report, which the team presented at a news conference in Accra on Tuesday, November 11, included several suggestions, including this one.

Purchase contemporary aircraft equipped with TAWS/EGPWS and cutting-edge navigation systems.

It also recommended employing a licensed aviation weather service and investing in flying simulators for ongoing training.

Captain Forjoe added that the helicopter involved in the catastrophic collision complied with all fundamental safety regulations.

He stated, “We also assessed the aircraft to see if it was for the purpose, he added. It met all the basic safety requirements, the helicopter was in good condition and met all safety requirements.”

Nevertheless, it was noted that the helicopter did not have any other safety features.

The crew members involved in the helicopter crash had made three flights before the incident, according to Captain Forjoe.

He said that prior to the flight mishap, the crew rested for twenty-four hours.

“The last 3 flights before the accident were conducted by the same crew,” he reiterated.

According to Captain Forjoe, the crew certification was examined by the investigating team.

They also examined the crew’s psychological and physical records.

The Committee that investigated into the August 6 helicopter disaster presented its report and conclusions to the President on Monday, November 10, under the direction of Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, Acting Minister for Defence.

The presentation was given during a National Security Council meeting.
