Kwame Baffoe, also known as Abronye DC, the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, was placed under police custody by the Accra High Court after he disregarded a court order that required him to turn over his passport as part of his bail requirements in a pending criminal case.
After concluding that Abronye DC had not followed the conditions stipulated when he was granted bail, the court issued the ruling.
When the decision was made, Abronye DC was not present in court.
The State has filed a complaint against the Bono Regional Chairman alleging fraudulent publication.
After being held following his arraignment on the accusation, the High Court granted him release last month.
He was instructed to give the court his passport as part of the bail requirements.
However, the court revoked the respite provided and ordered his remand in police custody due to his apparent noncompliance with that command.
In the Circuit Court, where the false publishing charge is still pending, the substantive criminal case is still pending and is anticipated to proceed.
