The management of the No. 1 Oxford Street Hotel claims to have filed an appeal against the Accra High Court’s ruling last Tuesday authorising a Receiver to take possession of businessman Cheddar’s massive, imposing and aesthetically beautiful white structure near the Dankwa Circle in Osu, Accra.
The appointment of a Receiver to take ownership of the property is at the heart of a debt dispute that has previously been decided by the High Court of England and Wales.
The most recent development comes after previous actions related to the implementation of the ruling in favour of Cola Holdings Limited in Ghana.
The hotel’s management company, Kensington Residential Partners 1 Limited (KRP1), stated in a press release on Thursday, July 23, 2026, that it had taken note of media reports regarding the High Court’s July 21 order granting police assistance to Cola Holdings Limited and its designated Receiver.
It stated that while the legal proceedings are ongoing, it is still operating and maintaining the hotel.
The hotel is still owned and controlled by its directors and management, according to KRP1.
According to the business, it had given its lawyers instructions to contest the court’s ruling and had submitted an appeal along with requests for temporary relief while the appeal was being decided.
KRP1 added that, in its opinion, the High Court’s order is not yet enforceable because the time frame specified by the relevant court regulations has not yet passed. An appellate court has not decided that stance.
According to the corporation, the enforcement of a security claim over the property has resulted in other related processes between the parties, some of which are still pending in court.
KRP1 advised the public not to make judgements based on ongoing litigation and to wait to see how the ongoing legal proceedings turn out.
“Oxford No. 1 Hotel remains open for business,” the statement said.
The High Court’s decision to provide police support to Cola Holdings Limited and its designated Receiver is the subject of the appeal.
The courts will decide how the appeal and any associated applications turn out.
