President John Dramani Mahama will outline his administration’s goals and policy direction for the upcoming year in his second State of the Nation Address to Parliament on Friday, February 27, 2026.
The president will give a formal address to the House on the state of the nation and lay out the government’s legislative and development plan in compliance with Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution.
In order to control media coverage of the event at Parliament House in Accra, the Parliamentary Service has released comprehensive instructions ahead of the speech. Parliament emphasised the importance of rigorous adherence to accreditation and security procedures in a message sent to all editors on February 20, 2026.
According to the release, journalists who are not members of the Parliamentary Press Corps but plan to cover the address must apply to the Director of the Media Relations Department by Tuesday, February 24, 2026.
It issued a warning that entry will be denied if accreditation was not obtained.
Additionally, media professionals have been instructed to limit themselves to the locations specified on their credentials and to prominently display their accreditation during the event.
The Rt. Hon. Speaker’s lobby is “Out of Bounds” for media engagements, interviews, and photography.
A clean feed will be made available for rebroadcast in an effort to control traffic inside the Parliamentary precincts.
In order to prevent crowding, the notification advises media outlets to rely on the feed unless accessing the public gallery is absolutely required.
Every interview and live broadcast must take place in the Foyer, located on the ground level of Parliament House’s Chamber block.
The Parliamentary Service also stated that reporters and media outlets would be subject to security screening, which would include examinations of their devices and equipment.
Space in the foyer will be distributed according to a “first come, first served” policy.
The media has been asked to keep their activities in the press gallery as much as possible, while the public gallery has been set aside for invited visitors.
“All media outlets/reporters must strictly comply with these directions as part of the security measures in place to ensure the event’s success,” the statement stated.
The public is increasingly interested in the government’s efforts to improve governance, implement social policy changes, and revive the economy at the time of President Mahama’s speech.
It is anticipated that his second State of the Nation Address will provide light on the administration’s legislative priorities and its plan to build on the progress it has made since taking office again.
