The African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights in Arusha, Tanzania, has formally opened its 2026 Judicial Year under President John Dramani Mahama.
In order to reinforce Africa’s shared commitment to justice, accountability, and the rule of law, the event brought together eminent jurists, public servants, members of the diplomatic corps, and leaders of regional organisations.
The President emphasised in his speech the significance of preserving judicial independence, bolstering continental institutions, and making sure that every African’s rights and dignity are upheld without fear or favour.
The start of the Judicial Year signifies a renewed commitment among African nations to strengthen collaboration, respect the Court’s mandate, and promote a common understanding of justice and human rights throughout the continent.
