A police inspector at the Asuoyeboah Police Station has been placed under interdict by the Ashanti Regional Police Command due to his alleged involvement in a robbery attack that targeted a mobile money dealer in Kumasi.
Following what police described as intelligence-led operations, the Regional Anti-Robbery Unit detained the officer, identified as Inspector Bright Appiah Dankwah.
A Bruni Model 92 gas handgun, ammo and GHS 9,835 were found during a search at the suspect’s home, according to a police press release released on Monday, May 11.
The statement claims that the officer has subsequently been placed under interdict while the alleged robbery case is still being investigated.

On Monday, May 11, 2026, Inspector Dankwah was also arraigned before the Atasemanso Circuit Court and placed under police custody.
It is anticipated that he will return to court on May 29, 2026.
Investigations to determine the complete circumstances surrounding the alleged event are still ongoing, according to the Police Service.
