The Ghana Statistical Service, states that building inflation in Ghana stayed steady at 2.2 percent in April 2026, indicating comparatively stable building costs despite rises in some essential building supplies.
The Prime Building Cost Index (PBCI) increased from 133.2 in April 2025 to 136.1 in April 2026, according to the most recent data, which was published on May 27, 2026.
This indicates that during the course of a year, the average cost of building materials rose by 2.2%. Between March and April 2026, there was a 1.5% monthly increase in building input prices.
According to the survey, the main causes of inflation in the construction industry are roofing sheets, electrical work, plumbing, and glazing.
The greatest year-over-year inflation rate was 16.2 percent for glazing, followed by 14.5 percent for plumbing and 13 percent for roofing sheets.
