A pledge made upon the establishment of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund (MahamaCares) has been fulfilled by President John Dramani Mahama, who has donated six months of his base pay and encouraged government appointees to contribute one month of their base pay to support the program.

Deputy Chief of Staff (Administration), Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, formally delivered the combined donation, totalling GHS 6,102,737.80, to the Ghana Medical Trust Fund on Monday.

Adjoa Obuobia Darko-Opoku, Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, thanked the donor and praised the dedication shown to helping Ghanaians in need of specialised medical care.

Speaking at the event, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo urged greater involvement from people, organisations, and businesses in maintaining the Fund while reiterating the government’s dedication to helping citizens dealing with severe health issues.
