President John Dramani Mahama had a courtesy call from the family of renowned statesman and diplomat Ambassador James Victor Gbeho. They formally notified him of his demise.

The delegation, speaking on behalf of the Gbeho family, pointed out that it was crucial from a cultural and diplomatic standpoint to formally inform the President of the loss before announcing his passing in public.

An influential figure in Ghanaian and global politics was Ambassador Gbeho. Among the many diplomatic posts he held was one in New York. He served as Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, represented the Anlo constituency in Parliament, and served as the ECOWAS Commission’s President (formerly Executive Secretary).

His contributions to regional integration and international diplomacy at the UN earned him widespread respect.

In addition to offering his condolences, President Mahama discussed Ambassador Gbeho’s achievements to the nation, West Africa, and the globe.

Funeral details will be announced later.
