The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) is set to officially launch the Agricultural Education Transformation Fund (AETF) on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at The Palms by Eagles Hotel in Accra. The event, scheduled for 10:00 a.m., marks a major step toward strengthening agricultural education, agribusiness development, innovation, and mechanization in Ghana.
Agricultural Education Transformation Fund to Support Sustainable Growth
The Agricultural Education Transformation Fund (AETF) has been established as a national endowment fund to provide long-term and sustainable financing for agricultural education, practical skills training, research, innovation, entrepreneurship, mechanization, and agribusiness enterprises.
According to the Ministry, the fund aims to transform agricultural education by mobilizing long-term investments that will enhance teaching, practical learning, research, technology development, infrastructure, and entrepreneurial opportunities across agricultural institutions nationwide.
Unlike conventional grant programmes, the AETF is designed as a permanent endowment that preserves its core capital while using annual investment returns to finance priority projects and educational initiatives.
GH¢3.5 Million Secured Toward GH¢100 Million Target
The Ministry disclosed that GH¢3.5 million has already been committed to the fund.
The initiative targets:
- GH¢10 million as its initial endowment by December 2026
- GH¢100 million by December 2028
The long-term funding model is expected to ensure continuous investment in Ghana’s agricultural education sector.
Fund to Finance Scholarships, Research and Agricultural Innovation
Once fully operational, the Agricultural Education Transformation Fund will provide financial support for:
- Agricultural research and innovation
- Mechanization and modern farming technology
- Practical skills training
- Faculty and institutional development
- Student scholarships
- Agribusiness entrepreneurship
- Technology development
- Infrastructure improvement
- Capacity building for agricultural institutions
The Ministry believes these investments will help produce a highly skilled workforce capable of driving Ghana’s agricultural transformation and improving food security.
