Uganda Airlines is set to begin direct flight operations between Entebbe and Accra on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, creating a new air travel link between East and West Africa.
The planned route is expected to strengthen Ghana-Uganda air connectivity, while providing travellers, businesses and investors with an additional option for travelling between the two countries.
A delegation from Uganda National Airlines Company Limited, led by the airline’s Manager for Government Relations and Routes Coordination, Deo Nyanzi, announced the development during a courtesy visit to Ghana’s Minister for Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe.
Uganda Airlines Expands Operations to Ghana
The launch of the Accra-Entebbe direct flight will give passengers travelling between Ghana and Uganda an alternative to connecting flights through other African and international aviation hubs.
The new service is also expected to improve convenience for business executives, traders and investors who frequently travel between West Africa and East Africa.
With commercial relations and intra-African trade continuing to develop, improved air transportation could support greater movement of people, capital, expertise and services between the two markets.

The new Uganda Airlines route could also provide a boost to tourism, hospitality and other service-sector activities by making travel between Ghana and Uganda more accessible.
For Ghana, the entry of another international airline expands the range of aviation options available to passengers travelling to East Africa.
For Uganda, direct access to Accra, one of West Africa’s important commercial and aviation centres, could help facilitate increased business, tourism and investment activities between the two regions.
Transport Minister Welcomes Improved Air Connectivity
Transport Minister Joseph Bukari Nikpe welcomed Uganda Airlines’ planned entry into the Ghanaian market and stressed the importance of strengthening air transportation links among African countries.
He noted that better air connectivity should allow people to travel safely, comfortably, conveniently and affordably across the continent.
Improved aviation networks are considered an important part of regional economic integration, as the movement of people can facilitate the movement of goods, investment, professional expertise and services.
