Carlos Queiroz, the head coach of the Black Stars, has categorically denied claims that he resigned after Ghana was eliminated from the 2026 World Cup.

After the Portuguese manager posted on social media to show his appreciation for the chance to captain the national team throughout the competition, speculation over his future became more intense.

Despite having a contract that expires in August, many fans and observers saw the letter as an official farewell, which led to rumours that he was leaving.

But after being questioned by a fan, Queiroz addressed his position in a video that went viral on social media.

“I didn’t resign. I sent a message of gratitude,” Queiroz said, ending the rumours.

The Black Stars advanced as the third-place team from the group stage, however they were eliminated from the 2026 World Cup in the Round of 32 after losing to Colombia.

Queiroz initially agreed to a four-month contract with the Ghana Football Association (GFA). Football officials are supposed to assess the agreement after the team’s overall tournament performance.
