The Ghana Education Service (GES) has declared that from Monday, July 20, to Friday, August 7, 2026, candidates taking the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) would start choosing their chosen senior high schools.
On behalf of the Director-General of GES, Prince C. Agyemang-Duah, Director of the Schools and Instructions Division (Secondary), signed a letter dated July 6, 2026, containing the statement.
Regional, Metro, Municipal, and District Directors of Education will participate in a statewide training and sensitisation program organised by GES prior to the start of the school selection process.
The training will be held at the several regional education offices from Wednesday, July 15, to Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
The goal of the training, according to GES, is to give education directors a greater understanding of the 2026 school selection rules and placement protocols so they can oversee the process in their districts.
The Service has requested that all Regional Directors of Education notify their respective Metro, Municipal, and District Directors and make sure they attend the entire program.
After passing their exams, BECE applicants can select the senior high schools they want to attend through the school selection process.
