The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the activation of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) portal for the online capturing and uploading of candidates’ school selection data for the 2026 Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) exercise.
According to GES, the WAEC portal will be available from Monday, August 24 to Thursday, August 27, 2026, for Heads of Junior High Schools (JHSs) to capture and submit candidates’ selected schools ahead of the 2026 school placement exercise.
The directive follows an earlier GES communication dated August 18, 2026, referenced as GES/HQ/DG/494/2026, regarding the activation of the WAEC portal for capturing school selection information.
Headteachers Asked to Complete School Choices
GES has directed all JHS headteachers who have not yet completed the uploading of candidates’ school choices on the CSSPS portal for pre-testing to do so by the close of work on Monday, August 24, 2026.
After completing the CSSPS pre-testing process, schools are required to capture and upload the candidates’ school selection data through the WAEC portal within the stipulated period.
The system allows schools to use the same school identification number and password on multiple computers simultaneously. According to GES, this feature will help schools with large numbers of candidates process their data concurrently and complete the 2026 school placement registration efficiently.
GES Directs Education Officials to Monitor Exercise
Metro, Municipal and District Directors of Education, together with Examination Coordinators, have been instructed to closely supervise and monitor the exercise.
They are expected to ensure that the information of all eligible candidates is properly captured, verified and submitted before the deadline.
Regional Directors of Education have also been directed to communicate the latest instructions to all relevant schools and education officials within their jurisdictions and ensure strict compliance.
The exercise forms an important part of preparations for the 2026 CSSPS placement process, which will determine the placement of qualified Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates into senior high schools and technical and vocational institutions across Ghana.
