Ghanaian boxing star Bastie Samir has thrown down the gauntlet to unbeaten prospect Abubakar “Abu” Kamoko, son of legendary Ghanaian boxer Braimah “Bukom Banku” Kamoko, challenging him to a highly anticipated professional boxing bout.
The 37-year-old former Ghanaian international says he is ready to face Abu Kamoko in the ring, but only if a promoter can guarantee a $50,000 fight purse.
Bastie Samir made the challenge while speaking to journalists at the Timber Market in Accra during the launch of Obra Sports’ Osagyefo Fight Night.
Samir, who famously stopped Bukom Banku by knockout in 2017, said he has no concerns about facing his son and believes he can repeat his previous victory against the Kamoko family.
“I am hungry and coming like a wounded lion,” Samir told journalists.
Bastie Samir Recalls Bukom Banku Knockout
The experienced Ghanaian boxer referenced his famous victory over Bukom Banku and boldly predicted another win if a fight against Abu Kamoko is eventually arranged.
“Tell him I will beat him like I beat his father,” Samir said, recalling his 2017 knockout victory.
The former Olympic boxer insisted, however, that any potential fight must make financial sense because professional boxing is also a business.
According to Samir, he would only accept the proposed contest after receiving a signed contract guaranteeing a $50,000 purse.
“We don’t just fight,” he added.
Bastie Samir vs Abu Kamoko Fight Gains Attention
Samir’s challenge has added fresh excitement to discussions about a potential Bastie Samir vs Abu Kamoko boxing fight.
Samir last competed professionally in 2025 and currently has an impressive professional record of 22 victories, two defeats and one draw.
Abu Kamoko, meanwhile, remains undefeated after seven professional fights and is increasingly regarded as one of Ghana’s promising young boxing talents.
The potential bout would bring together two boxers from different generations who both enjoyed notable amateur careers before moving into professional boxing.
Bastie Samir and Abu Kamoko’s Amateur Achievements
Bastie Samir won a welterweight silver medal at the 2007 All-Africa Games before representing Ghana at the 2008 Olympic Games, where he competed in the light-heavyweight division.
He currently trains under renowned Ghanaian boxing coach Dr Ofori Asare at Wisdom Boxing Gym.
Abu Kamoko also boasts an impressive amateur background. He won a silver medal at the 2023 African Games and trains at Bronx Boxing Gym under coach Carl Lokko.
Ghana Boxing Fans Anticipate ‘Repeat or Revenge’
Talk of a potential “Repeat or Revenge” boxing showdown between Bastie Samir and Abu Kamoko has continued to generate interest among Ghanaian boxing fans.
A fight between the two could attract significant attention because of Samir’s historic knockout victory over Abu’s father, Bukom Banku.
For now, Samir has made his financial terms clear: a $50,000 purse would be required before he steps into the ring with the unbeaten Abu Kamoko.
The proposed bout could become one of the most talked-about Ghana boxing events if promoters successfully negotiate an agreement between the two camps.
