Ghanaian gospel musician Rev. Obaapa Christy has successfully concluded the maiden two-city edition of Royal Praise 2026, attracting thousands of worshippers, gospel music lovers and industry stakeholders to memorable events in Accra and Kumasi.
The gospel concert began at the UPSA Auditorium in Accra on August 9, 2026, before moving to Kumasi for its Homecoming edition at the Church of Pentecost, Bantama, on August 16.
Royal Praise 2026 brought together some of Ghana’s leading gospel artistes, Christian worshippers, music industry professionals and entertainment enthusiasts for a celebration combining gospel music, Christian fellowship and Ghanaian culture.
Royal Praise 2026 Accra Edition
The Accra edition featured performances from popular Ghanaian gospel musicians including Joyce Blessing, Empress Gifty, Celestine Donkor, Uncle Ato, Kwaku Gyasi and Akesse Brempong, with musical support from the ROC Band.
Patrons dressed in colourful traditional and royal-inspired Ghanaian outfits, creating an atmosphere filled with worship, praise and cultural celebration.
Obaapa Christy later took centre stage as the headline performer, treating the audience to some of the most popular songs from her extensive Ghana gospel music catalogue.

Kumasi Homecoming Edition
One week after the Accra event, Royal Praise 2026 moved to Kumasi for its highly anticipated Homecoming edition.
The Kumasi programme featured performances from Mama Esther, Lady Prempeh, Bro Sammy, Quame Gyedu, Ernest Opoku, Kwaku Gyasi and Joyce Blessing, once again backed by the ROC Band.
Bro Sammy made a grand royal-themed entrance, further reinforcing the cultural identity of the gospel programme. Veteran gospel musicians Mama Esther and Lady Prempeh also entertained patrons with nostalgic and inspirational gospel performances.
Kwaku Gyasi and Joyce Blessing were the only guest artistes who performed at both the Accra and Kumasi editions.
Obaapa Christy Delivers Memorable Worship Performance
Obaapa Christy delivered one of the major highlights of the Kumasi event with a series of carefully selected royal-inspired outfits that reflected the programme’s combination of faith, culture and Ghanaian heritage.
She opened one segment in an elegant white royal gown and led worshippers through a powerful worship session before transitioning into energetic praise songs that got the audience on their feet.
The gospel musician later returned in a striking green-and-yellow royal costume to perform several of her popular songs.
Her trademark vocals, energetic stage presence and interaction with the audience helped bring the Royal Praise 2026 Homecoming edition to a vibrant conclusion.
Royal Praise Promotes Ghanaian Culture and Gospel Music
Beyond entertainment, Royal Praise 2026 was designed to promote Ghanaian culture and Christian values while creating a platform for collaboration among gospel ministers, musicians, media professionals, content creators and other stakeholders in Ghana’s creative industry.
The organising team, led by Albert Acheampong, Chief Executive Officer of Footprint TV, was also recognised for its contribution to the successful delivery of the programme.
Several media organisations, including Footprint TV, Despite Multimedia, The Multimedia Group, EIB Network, Angel Broadcasting Network and Class Media Group, were commended for helping to expand the reach of the gospel event.
Royal Praise Expected to Return in 2027
Following the successful maiden edition, Royal Praise is expected to return in 2027 with an expanded programme, additional performances and an enhanced worship experience.
Details regarding the 2027 Royal Praise dates, venues and participating gospel artistes are expected to be announced at a later date.
