Deputy Minister for Health Prof. Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah has continued her official working visit to the Bono Region, beginning the second day with a courtesy meeting with the Bono Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Addae Akwaboah.
The meeting focused on the persistent challenge of maternal mortality in Ghana and ongoing measures by the Ministry of Health to accelerate interventions aimed at reducing preventable maternal deaths.
Deputy Health Minister Seeks Support for Healthcare Delivery
Prof. Dr Ayensu-Danquah appealed to the Bono Regional Minister for greater collaboration to strengthen healthcare delivery across the region, particularly at the teaching hospital and other health facilities.
She stressed the importance of creating a supportive working environment for doctors, nurses, midwives and other healthcare professionals posted to the region.
According to her, providing health workers with the necessary support and conducive conditions will be critical to improving the quality of maternal healthcare and other essential medical services.
Stronger Collaboration Needed to Reduce Maternal Deaths
The Deputy Minister also highlighted the need for stronger cooperation among the Ministry of Health, Ghana Health Service, Bono Regional Coordinating Council, health facilities and other stakeholders.
She said coordinated action would help address the factors contributing to maternal deaths and improve overall health outcomes for women and communities in the Bono Region.
The engagement forms part of broader efforts by the Ministry of Health to strengthen maternal healthcare and ensure that women have access to timely and quality medical services.
