The Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore, has openly expressed dissatisfaction with the John Dramani Mahama-led government, claiming that none of his companies has secured a government contract since the party returned to power.
Ashie Moore said he was disappointed that despite the financial contributions, personal sacrifices and investments he made towards the NDC’s electoral success, his businesses had not benefited from any government contract.
He made the remarks while addressing party delegates ahead of the upcoming NDC Greater Accra Regional elections.
According to the regional chairman, he owns six companies and has invested substantial financial resources in the party’s activities in the Greater Accra Region.
He argued that his contributions to the NDC deserved recognition, particularly considering the financial commitments he made to support the party’s political activities.
Ashie Moore lamented that none of his businesses had received a government contract, not even a relatively small project such as desilting.
He said: “As Regional Chairman, I have six companies, and I have made enormous sacrifices and investments for this party. The amount of money I have invested in the NDC in this region is significant, yet none of my companies has been awarded a contract, not even for desilting.”
Ashie Moore Says He Has Nowhere to Go Despite Disappointment
Despite expressing frustration with the government’s treatment of party executives and loyal supporters, Ashie Moore maintained that he remained committed to the NDC.
He explained that his loyalty to the party made it difficult for him to consider leaving, even though he felt disappointed by the lack of opportunities for his businesses.
The NDC regional chairman also disclosed that his political position had affected his ability to access bank loans to finance his business operations.
According to him, financial institutions sometimes classify politically exposed persons as high-risk customers, making it difficult for him to secure credit to support his companies.
He questioned his future outside the party, stressing that he had invested heavily in the NDC and had no alternative political home.
NDC Chairman Complains About Lack of Government Appointment
Ashie Moore further expressed concern that he had not received any government appointment since the NDC assumed office under President John Dramani Mahama.
He explained that unlike some party members who had been appointed to government positions, he had to lobby for opportunities and had not been given an official role in the administration.
He also said the situation had become emotionally difficult whenever he interacted with party supporters and constituents who expected better recognition for their contributions.
The Greater Accra Regional Chairman insisted that he and other party members were unhappy with the situation, suggesting that the concerns of grassroots supporters and regional executives needed to be addressed.
His comments have brought renewed attention to discussions about political loyalty, government appointments, party rewards and the expectations of NDC members following the party’s return to power.
The remarks also highlight growing conversations about how political parties balance the contributions of grassroots organisers, regional executives and supporters with opportunities within government.
