The US$10 billion investment announced by President John Dramani Mahama is expected to provide a major boost to Ghana’s economy, stimulate economic activity and support job creation.

Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson says the government’s New Economy Programme is designed to strengthen Ghana’s productive capacity by supporting local industries and increasing domestic production.

According to the Finance Minister, the programme will help reduce Ghana’s dependence on imported goods, while creating opportunities for businesses and generating more employment for Ghanaians.

The planned investment is expected to support economic growth, local manufacturing, job creation and private-sector development, as the government seeks to build a more productive and resilient Ghanaian economy.

The New Economy Programme forms part of the government’s broader strategy to expand economic opportunities, promote local production and reduce the pressure created by reliance on imports.
