The Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr Johnson Pandit Asiama, has appointed the central bank’s Second Deputy Governor, Matilda Asante-Asiedu, as his authorised representative on the Board of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod).
The appointment took effect on Monday, May 11, 2026, allowing Mrs Asante-Asiedu to attend and fully participate in all meetings of the GoldBod Board on behalf of the Bank of Ghana Governor.
Matilda Asante-Asiedu to Represent BoG Governor
In a letter communicating the appointment, Dr Asiama said Mrs Asante-Asiedu had been formally nominated to represent his interests on the GoldBod Board and participate in the Board’s deliberations.
The Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana will also exercise the rights and responsibilities assigned to Dr Asiama in his capacity as a member of the GoldBod Board.
The appointment means Mrs Asante-Asiedu will act on behalf of the BoG Governor at GoldBod Board meetings, contributing to discussions and carrying out responsibilities associated with the position.
BoG Strengthens Representation on GoldBod Board
Dr Asiama explained that the appointment was intended to ensure that his interests continued to be effectively represented in the activities and deliberations of the Ghana Gold Board.
The decision comes amid growing attention to the relationship between the Bank of Ghana and GoldBod, particularly regarding Ghana’s domestic gold purchasing programme and the central bank’s role in the country’s gold sector.
