The Ghana Police Service has arrested three suspects in connection with the alleged kidnapping and murder of 33-year-old Nana Yaw Kyere, who was reported missing in Accra on September 22, 2026.
The suspects have been identified as Philip Dzifa Kofi Tefe, Sarah Osei Adams and Josiah Obodai.
According to the Police, the arrests followed investigations by the Missing Persons Unit after Nana Yaw Kyere reportedly left his residence at Kokomlemle in Accra on September 19 in his Honda Civic but failed to return home.
Police Investigation Into Missing Person Case
Preliminary investigations indicate that Nana Yaw Kyere was allegedly lured to the residence of Philip Tefe at Teshie Agbleza by Sarah Osei Adams.
The Police said the two suspects later confessed to their alleged involvement in the incident.
Investigators said Philip Tefe allegedly attacked Nana Yaw Kyere during a confrontation and struck him with a metallic object, resulting in injuries.
The victim was subsequently moved to another room, where he was allegedly left unattended. He later died from his injuries, according to the Police account.
Body Allegedly Transported and Burnt
Further investigations revealed that the victim’s body was allegedly transported in a Kia Morning vehicle to an area near the motorway on September 20.
The body was reportedly dumped in a bush and set on fire.
The partially burnt remains were later discovered at Community 18 on September 21, prompting further police investigations into the suspected murder.
Nana Yaw Kyere’s biological mother and an uncle subsequently identified the remains at the Police Hospital morgue on September 24.
Victim’s iPhone 12 Recovered
As part of the investigation, the Ghana Police Service also recovered the victim’s iPhone 12.
Police said Philip Tefe allegedly sold the phone for GH¢100 to a man identified as Sunday Omeje.
Omeje has been cautioned and detained over allegations of dishonestly receiving the mobile phone.
Third Suspect Arrested
Further police investigations led to the arrest of Josiah Obodai, who is being investigated in connection with the alleged disposal of the victim’s body.
Investigators have also impounded his father’s Kia Morning vehicle, which police believe may have been used to transport the body.
The three suspects remain in Police custody as investigations continue.
The Ghana Police Service said the suspects are expected to be put before the court while efforts are ongoing to identify and arrest any other persons who may have played a role in the alleged kidnapping and murder.
The case remains under investigation.
