The Member of Parliament for Gushegu Constituency, Alhassan Sulemana Tampuli, has announced significant progress in efforts to connect the Pitili and Naatili communities in the Northern Region to Ghana’s national electricity grid.

According to the NPP lawmaker, electricity connection works in Pitili have been completed and are awaiting official commissioning, while the project in Naatili is approximately 98% complete.

The development is expected to improve access to electricity, support economic activities and enhance the living conditions of residents in both communities.

Pitili Electricity Project Completed, Naatili Connection Nears Completion

Mr Tampuli disclosed the progress of the electricity projects following an inspection tour of the communities on Monday, October 26, 2026.

In a Facebook post after the visit, the former Deputy Minister for Transport confirmed that the Pitili electricity connection had been completed and was awaiting official inauguration.

He also reported that work on connecting Naatili to the national grid was nearly finished, with a transformer already installed.

According to the MP, only a few additional electricity poles and wiring works remain before the Naatili project can be completed.

The extension of electricity to the two communities is expected to improve access to reliable power for households, small businesses and other essential services.

Tampuli Inspects Completed CHPS Compound in Salaa

In a related development, Alhassan Sulemana Tampuli, accompanied by his constituency executives, visited the Salaa community to inspect a completed Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound.

The MP announced that the health facility would soon be handed over to the municipal health authorities to commence full operations.

The facility is expected to improve access to primary healthcare services and bring essential medical care closer to residents of Salaa and surrounding communities.

The project forms part of broader efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and improve the quality of health service delivery within the Gushegu Constituency.

Gushegu Electricity Expansion Reaches More Communities

Since becoming the MP for Gushegu, Mr Tampuli has reportedly supported the expansion of electricity infrastructure across the constituency.

Before he assumed office, approximately 32 communities were connected to the national electricity grid. His development efforts have reportedly extended electricity connections to about 50 additional communities.

The expansion is expected to support local businesses, improve educational opportunities and enhance healthcare delivery, particularly in rural communities where access to electricity has been limited.

Reliable electricity can also help create opportunities for small-scale enterprises, agricultural processing and other income-generating activities.

Tampuli Supports Education, Healthcare and Agriculture

Beyond electricity infrastructure, the Gushegu MP has reportedly supported development initiatives in education, healthcare and agriculture.

His interventions include improvements to educational and health facilities, as well as the provision of tractors to support farming activities.

The agricultural support is aimed at improving productivity, making farm operations more efficient and helping farmers increase their incomes.

These initiatives form part of broader efforts to improve living standards, expand access to essential services and reduce poverty among residents of the constituency.

Gushegu Development Projects Target Improved Living Standards

The ongoing electricity connections in Pitili and Naatili, together with the completed CHPS compound in Salaa, highlight continuing efforts to improve basic infrastructure in Gushegu.

Once the remaining electricity works are completed and the projects officially commissioned, residents are expected to benefit from improved access to power and the opportunities it provides for household activities, education, healthcare and local businesses.

The planned opening of the Salaa CHPS compound is also expected to strengthen access to primary healthcare services within the area.
