The call for the resignation of Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta and the Minister of State in the Finance Ministry Charles Adu Boahene is now a Caucus agenda, according to Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu.

Although the problems began with the more than 80 MPs, he pointed out that at a meeting of the Majority Caucus, all of the MPs of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) agreed with the group’s stance.

So, he continued, “It is now the agenda for the entire Caucus, not just the cause of the 80 MPs.”

On November 3, the Majority Leader revealed these during a meeting with the Parliamentary Press Corps (PPC).

He emphasized that since the issue has come up in front of the full Caucus, it is unlikely that anyone will try to buy off just the 80 MPs.

He highlighted that “As of now, we don’t know what the purpose is,” adding that the leadership is looking into the bribery claim to see if it is real and the motivation of the individual who made it.

“These issues occasionally arise… You recall the Minister’s nomination to testify before the screening committee. There was a claim that he had tried to influence or bribe several individuals. It ultimately turned out to be false.

So even though this one has already been brought up, I haven’t yet addressed it, assuming it is actually accurate. This isn’t done to belittle the intelligence or moral character of individuals who brought it up.

He stated that the Majority Caucus will make a thorough statement on the subject following an investigation into the validity of the claim and the motivation behind it.
